Optical Resolution is defined as the smallest sized feature that a given optical system is able to resolve.
To determine the optical lens resolution of my Palm PVG 100, I used a combined test chart with Siemens star and USAF 1951 test pattern. The size of the test chart is 400 mm x 300 mm.
The picture is taken from a distance of 600 mm with a tripod, remote shutter release with autofocus mode in daylight:

The result is amazing, if I have done the math correctly. This tiny camera has an impressive resolution of 340 LP/mm in the center of the image and still an average of 308 LP/mm at the edges. In relation to the sensor height of 3.75 mm, this is 1275 LP/picture height. I can only explain this image quality by the fact that it is easier to produce a small lens with high quality than a large one. The values are also impressive because they are not based on theoretical calculations, but on a practical test. The test therefore takes into account the whole system with sensor, lens and automatic internal JPG image post-processing.
